No. 13 Florida suffered a tough loss against No. 4 Georgia on Saturday, falling 17-2 at Condron Family Ballpark.

The Bulldogs (23-2, 4-1 SEC) jumped out to an early lead with a two-run homer by Robbie Burnett in the first inning.

Georgia added to its advantage in the second when Brennan Hudson launched another two-run shot, putting the Gators (18-7, 0-5 SEC) in a 4-0 hole.

The Bulldogs continued their offensive onslaught in the third, tacking on another run with an RBI double by Christian Adams.

Florida starter Billy Barlow, making his first weekend start, struggled on the mound.

He allowed six earned runs across three-plus innings, giving up seven hits and two walks while striking out five.

Georgia extended its lead to 9-0 in the fifth inning with back-to-back home runs.

Adams smashed a two-run shot, followed by a solo homer from Devin Obee.

The Gators finally got on the board in the sixth inning.

Brendan Lawson drove in Bobby Boser with an RBI single to break up the shutout.

However, Georgia quickly responded with two more runs in the seventh, capitalizing on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a walk to make it 11-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Florida showed some fight.

Freshman Hayden Yost worked a grueling 10-pitch at-bat before blasting his first career home run over the right-field berm.

The score remained 11-2 through the eighth inning, but Georgia delivered the final blow in the ninth.

Ryland Zaborowski and Tre Phelps each hit two-run doubles, followed by Obee’s second home run of the day to seal the 17-2 victory.

Gators reliever McCall Biemiller provided a bright spot on the mound.

The true freshman delivered the longest outing of his young career, striking out four batters over two scoreless innings.

Two other Florida pitchers, Carson Montsdeoca and Felix Ong, made their collegiate debuts.

Georgia’s Brian Curley (2-0) earned the win with five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out five.

The loss dropped Florida to 15-3 at home this season.

Colby Shelton extended his on-base streak to 25 games, continuing to be a reliable presence in the lineup.

Despite the loss, Florida still holds a commanding all-time series lead over Georgia at 195-118-2, including 102-47-1 at home.

The Gators look to bounce back in the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. on SEC Network+.
