The No. 7-ranked Florida Gators capped off a dominant series sweep of Harvard on Saturday, securing both ends of a doubleheader with convincing victories of 7-0 and 22-6 at Condron Family Ballpark.
With the wins, Florida improved to 15-2 on the season and extended their winning streak to four games, while the Crimson dropped to 0-9.
The Gators turned in back-to-back shutouts for the first time since the 2017 NCAA Tournament, following Friday night's 11-0 victory with their first win of the day.
In game one, freshman right-hander Aidan King was the standout performer, throwing a career-high six shutout innings.
King allowed just two hits, struck out eight batters, and walked only one to earn his first win as a weekend starter.
The Gators provided plenty of support for their pitcher, with senior Bobby Boser leading the way.
Boser hit two home runs in the game, including a grand slam in the second inning, and finished 2-for-4 with six RBI and four runs.
The Gators built a commanding 7-0 lead by the fifth inning, with Boser’s grand slam providing much of the early offense.
King closed out his brilliant start with two perfect innings to finish his six-inning outing, and right-hander Caden McDonald wrapped up the shutout with three strikeouts in the seventh.
In game two, Florida’s offense exploded for 22 runs in a 22-6 victory.
The game was a back-and-forth affair early on, with Harvard striking first in the top of the first inning on a two-run double from Liam Wilson.
But the Gators responded quickly, taking a 3-2 lead by the end of the first.
Brody Donay was a key contributor, going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run, five runs scored, and three walks.
Donay reached base safely in eight of his nine plate appearances across both games.
Brendan Lawson also had a strong game, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBI.
Boser continued his strong play, adding two more hits, including a double, and driving in two more runs.
Over the course of the doubleheader, Boser went 4-for-8 with two homers, a double, eight RBI, and four runs.
The Gators continued their offensive barrage throughout the game, with five runs in the third inning, followed by a four-run fifth.
By the time the sixth inning rolled around, Florida had built a commanding 22-6 lead, which was sealed with a three-run triple by Hayden Yost.
Florida pitchers also kept Harvard's offense in check, with Matthew Jenkins and Christian Rodriguez each contributing solid innings.
Jenkins allowed just two runs over three innings, while Rodriguez shut down the Crimson in his two innings of work, striking out a pair.
The 22 runs were the most for the Gators in a single game this season and marked their most since a 24-4 win over No. 7 LSU in the 2023 College World Series.
Florida’s offensive output in the second game included a season-high 16 hits, with several players contributing multiple-hit performances.
King’s performance in game one and the Gators’ offensive outburst in game two capped off a memorable day for Florida, which posted its fourth series win of the season and third series sweep.
The Gators allowed just six runs in the three-game series, outscoring Harvard 41-6.
Florida is now 6-0 all-time against Harvard, with all meetings taking place in Gainesville, and they are a perfect 6-0 in the series under Head Coach Kevin O'Sullivan.
Looking ahead, the Gators will head to Tallahassee for a showdown with Florida State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on ACCNX.
