The Florida Gators captured the SEC Tournament title with a thrilling 86-77 victory over sixth-ranked Tennessee.

The win secured them a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and set the stage for a deep postseason run.

Walter Clayton Jr. led the charge with 22 points, including several key three-pointers in the final minutes.

His performance was critical to the Gators' success and their ability to close out the game under pressure.

After the victory, Clayton celebrated by cutting down the nets and confidently stated that the team still had more work to do.

Florida's victory was a team effort, with several players contributing in crucial moments.

Will Richard added 17 points, while Alijah Martin contributed 10 points and Alex Condon posted 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Gators dominated on the boards, out-rebounding Tennessee 39-25, with a remarkable 15 offensive rebounds.

Despite the hostile environment and Tennessee’s strong defense, Florida kept its composure throughout the game.

Coach Todd Golden praised his team’s unselfishness, emphasizing that their willingness to put the team’s success over individual accomplishments had been key all season.

Florida’s journey to the SEC title was especially rewarding considering their challenges in previous seasons.

Two years ago, Golden’s first season at Florida, the Gators finished with a 16-17 record and were eliminated early from the SEC Tournament.

Last year, the Gators made it to the SEC Tournament final but fell short against Auburn and were knocked out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

This year, Florida’s 30-4 record and SEC Tournament victory mark a dramatic improvement.

The win was the Gators’ fifth SEC Tournament title and their first since 2014.

Richard, the senior who was the first player to commit to Golden, expressed the satisfaction of seeing their hard work pay off.

Despite the celebrations, the team remains focused on their next challenge in the NCAA Tournament.

Florida's victory over Tennessee in the SEC final was the culmination of a season filled with top-tier performances.

The Gators have already secured eight top-25 wins, including five against top-10 teams.

In their third meeting with Tennessee, Florida broke open a tight game with a strong second-half effort.

Tennessee’s defense, and standout performances from Zakai Zeigler, could not stop the Gators’ offensive onslaught.

The Gators' strong defense and key scoring runs proved too much for Tennessee to handle.

Florida’s next challenge is Norfolk State, whom they will face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Gators are a No. 1 seed for the third time in program history, joining the elite ranks of 2007 and 2014 teams.

Florida's rich NCAA Tournament history includes 23 appearances, with the 2007 team winning the national championship and the 2014 team making the Final Four.

With Golden at the helm, this year’s team looks poised for another deep run in the tournament.

The Gators' mix of experienced leaders like Clayton and Richard, along with strong team play, gives them a real shot at another title.

Their opening-round game against Norfolk State is set for Friday at 6:50 p.m. in Raleigh, North Carolina.
