The Atlanta Braves struggled once again, falling 6-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.
This loss extended the Braves' winless streak to five games to start the season.
It’s their first such start since going 0-9 in 2016.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers continued their dominance, moving to 6-0 for the first time since 1981, a year they went on to win the World Series.
The game saw Tyler Glasnow shine on the mound for the Dodgers, tossing five shutout innings.
Glasnow struck out eight batters and walked three, giving up just two singles, one to Jarred Kelenic and one to Michael Harris II, both in the fifth inning.
The Braves couldn't manage to break through against Glasnow, leaving them scoreless through the first five innings.
Teoscar Hernández provided early fireworks for the Dodgers with a two-run homer in the first inning.
Hernández’s blast went 436 feet to center field and scored Shohei Ohtani, who had walked to lead off the game.
Ohtani has now scored in every game so far this season.
The Dodgers added to their lead in the third inning when Michael Conforto hit an RBI double.
Tommy Edman followed with a sacrifice fly to push the score to 4-0.
Will Smith later tacked on an RBI single in the fifth to further extend the Dodgers’ lead.
The Braves’ bullpen struggled in the sixth, as Jesse Chavez allowed a home run to Kiké Hernández, who hit a solo shot for the Dodgers.
Chavez had just been called up from Triple-A earlier in the day for his fifth stint with the Braves.
Braves starter Grant Holmes, making his season debut, gave up four runs and four hits in four innings of work.
Holmes struck out three but walked four, and he took the loss, dropping his record to 0-1.
In a key moment for the Braves, Michael Harris hit a home run in the eighth inning, breaking a streak of 29 consecutive scoreless innings.
On the injury front, the Braves placed right-hander Reynaldo López on the injured list with shoulder inflammation.
Looking ahead, the Braves are set to start left-hander Chris Sale on Tuesday night.
Sale, who won last season’s NL Cy Young Award, will look to get the Braves on track after a rough start to the season.
